A rewarding career opportunity awaits an experienced pharmacist who will function as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Pharmacy in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a full-service, small and large animal hospital that sees an average of 18,000 cases each year, from exotic species and wildlife to companion animals. This position is a regular, part-time, academic professional position that has been identified as security sensitive. Comprehensive background checks, which may include but not be limited to a criminal conviction information check, will be conducted.
When serving as the Pharmacist-on-Duty, the Clinical Staff Pharmacist will dispense pharmaceuticals at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in accordance with established policies, and standards and regulations with regard to Illinois State and Federal pharmacy laws and regulations. He/she will also provide oversight and direction for all activities as they relate to the practice of pharmacy and will report to the Coordinator of Pharmacy and Materials Management (Pharmacist-in-Charge). In addition, the Clinical Staff Pharmacist will provide faculty, staff, students, and clients with pharmaceutical information regarding the clinical aspects of pharmacy and assist in teaching visiting pharmacy students and Parkland veterinary technician students during rotations.
A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from a College of Pharmacy is required and the successful candidate must be a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Illinois. Additional requirements include knowledge of pharmacy computer systems. Experience in veterinary pharmaceuticals and compounding of commonly used veterinary medications may be given preference.
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Start date is as soon as possible after closing date.
