Job Description:

SumTotal System’s is seeking a talented and motivated Storage Administrator to join our On Demand Hosting team to support our evergrowing storage infrastructure. In addition to your daily operational responsibilities, you will lead projects with minimal guidance, coach junior team members, and help set team strategy. As a Storage Administrator II, you will leverage your expertise in NAS, SAN, and backup technologies to work with SumTotal’s hosted applications and solutions.

This position will determine Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) needs and optimal solutions to meet those needs. Research new technologies and advances in existing technologies to meet business requirements. Ensure SAN/NAS performance and balanced load across subsystems to optimize for highest priority applications. Installs and configures disk arrays, virtual storage devices, file systems and volume managers. Apply required patches to storage platforms. Manage storage software and hardware license and support contracts. Implement and maintain data replication storage to meet customer requirements. Develop detailed documentation of production and maintenance for all storage, configurations, processes and procedures. Storage security and auditing. Capacity reporting and forecasting.

Work with teams to extract requirements and propose appropriate storage solutions and standards. Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for business critical data. Direct experience with design, implementation and management of storage area networks (SAN), with expertise in Netapp filers, SAN fabric switches(Brocade), and replication technologies. Extensive experience in design and documentation of backup/restore strategies via enterprise class backup solutions such as On-Line and automated tape library systems. Experience with Micreosoft Windows, Linux/Solaris and a variety of associated file systems.

We are looking for a driven individual with proven self-directed and proactive technology accomplishments in multiple datacenter environments.

•4 to 6 years of technical experience with SAN/NAS. Experience with 3-PAR, NetApp and EMC preferred..
•Direct experience in the design, implementation and management of network attached storage (NAS), with expertise in NetApp Disk Arrays, NAS IP replication, de-duplication, NDMP, SnapShot/Vaulting.
•Understanding of storage management processes and concepts.
•Thorough knowledge of SAN and NAS functions and technologies.
•Complete functional understanding of fiber switch zoning and configuration.
•Understanding of fiber channel and SCSI communications functions, capabilities and limitations.
•In-depth knowledge of NFS, CIFs, iSCSI and TCP/IP.
•Strong functional knowledge of server versions of MS Windows and Linux (CentOS)
•Thorough understanding of server hardware and peripherals, including mirrored devices and RAID arrays.
•Able to demonstrate creative, innovative and problems solving skills.
•Skilled supporting storage in clustered and virtualized environments.
•Able to interpret data, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
•Able to analyze devices, designs, materials and processes.
•Ensure required patches are applied to storage platforms.
•Exceptional written and oral communication skills
•Demonstrated working knowledge of storage designs and implementations of virtualization solutions from VMware.
•Thorough understanding of SAN and NAS performance measurements, tuning, security, and troubleshooting .
•Diagnose and troubleshoot performance problems in Enterprise applications such Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle,
•MySQL, and VMware.
•Excellent oral and written communications skills, including report writing, public presentations, and small group
•The ability to work in an energetic, fast paced and interrupt driven environment, with openness to the demands and rewards of a 24 x 7 workplace.
•Ability to sometimes work outside of a normal scheduled shift (weekends, shifts that fall outside of 8AM – 5PM, etc)
•Goal-oriented attitude and demeanor to work through roadblocks, motivate external concerns and bring about resolution.
•Bachelor of Science Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
