The incumbent will design and manage the external and internal websites of the Silicon Valley campus to enhance user experience and website visibility. The incumbent will work with the Pittsburgh campus content management system team to ensure consistency. The position requires an experienced individual with a combination of design, technical, and project management skills. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and External Relations and work closely with the staff writer to manage content. The website will play a significant role in student recruitment, especially international student recruitment, so experience in information architecture and design will be critical to achieve web marketing strategies and communications goals. The incumbent will provide web analytics and make recommendations for web design and flow to enhance SEO and user experience. The incumbent will also be a key member of the marketing team, providing graphic design support for marketing projects. He or she will also work with advertising vendors to provide ad artwork and oversee ad online performance.
Education: Bachelor’s in marketing, communication, information technology or related discipline with an emphasis on developing websites, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Four or more years of experience in application of web design and content management. This position will value an individual who can work collaboratively to develop online solutions for internal and external audiences and execute the plan by writing or editing content. Excellent computer literacy, strong design skills, strong information architecture skills, familiarity with relevant software, and strong project management skills. Experience working with CMS (Hannon Hill’s Cascade Server a plus), HTML, XML, RSS, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Skills: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to function competently in a team environment as both a leader or as a member of a team; excellent communication skills, especially demonstrated writing, analytical, organizational, reasoning and problem-solving skills; and strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, as the position requires collaborative interactions with staff, faculty and other stakeholders. The manager of web communications must juggle concurrent tasks to schedule, develop, write and publish content and feature stories while meeting deadlines.
Physical Mobility: Normally sedentary position with some mobility; i.e., able to travel to and work at various locations on the Silicon Valley campus. Normally work is conducted in usual office setting. May travel to Pittsburgh.
Environmental Conditions: Work is usually performed in an office setting. Close contact with monitor for extended periods.
Mental: Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions; pay attention to details; meet deadlines; deal with difficult individuals while maintaining composure.
Other: Weekend and evening hours may be required.
Education: Master’s in marketing, mass communication, interactive media or related discipline, with an emphasis on developing websites and project management.
Skills: Ability to work in a fast-changing start-up environment, to produce layouts and designs quickly, to manage multiple projects effectively. Ability to track new web technology and design styles. Must be a quick learner.
